THE STORY:

If any of you know me, you know I love movies, kids and the arts (I suppose movies are technically the arts…but you get my point.).

You also know that I’m basically a professional entertainment binger.

I read all of the Harry Potter novels in two weeks.  Watched at least 4 seasons of Lost (RIP) in less than a month, and am pretty sure that I was the one person who watched the new season of House of Cards non-stop (Netflix claims only one person did this, but I REFUSE to believe it). I was also a proud, flag waving theater nerd in high school. Musicals, Plays, Speech, and Debate were major parts of my life as a .

The arts are not only fun (I mean…that goes without saying), they build confidence and improve general learning abilities.  Most of the kids in our arts programs graduated at the top of our class. My drama teacher is legitimately one of my favorite people of all time. Her class was my home away from home, and it was an amazing experience to be in a school where participation in the arts was totally celebrated and encouraged.  We even had varsity/starting line-up football players in our showchoir (which was a big deal in Mississippi).

So, obviously, I had to sign up for this amazing fundraiser.  I’m hoping to give some other kid the same opportunity to fully devote him/herself to the thing they love.

Here is the official plug:

I'm so thrilled to be a part of BAM’s 24-Hour Movie Marathon. BAM is an incredible arts organization and every dollar I raise will help give kids greater access to the amazing performances, movies, after-school programs, and workshops that BAM offers. Just $25 helps get one kid involved in Arts & Justice, a free after-school program in which high school students create original theater works about social justice issues.

On top of all that, the participants that raise the most money also have an opportunity to win fantastic prizes, like an whitewater rapids trip to Colorado and a roundtrip flight anywhere in the US!

I want to help as many kids as possible and I have the stamina, the passion, and the drive to do what I love: Watch movies for 24 hours! Please donate to my fundraiser. It's for an excellent cause and will make a huge difference in the lives of so many New York kids.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
