BENEFITING: Brooklyn Academy of Music
ORGANIZER: Brooklyn Academy of Music
EVENT: BAM 24-Hour Movie Marathon
EVENT DATE: Sep 05, 2014
The fact that I love movies is nothing new, so you may think I am doing a 24-hour movie marathon purely out of love. I guess in a way, I am!
This time, that love is for a cause that has the power to impact a community of over 30,000 students, teachers, and families: the Brooklyn Academy of Music, or BAM.
BAM does incredible work to give kids greater access to the arts in many forms. Theater, dance, poetry, cinema--BAM enriches lives and the broader community. And it isn't just about exposing them to these, but engaging them to examine what they are seeing. They build analytical skills and creativity, and the ongoing value of these gifts is enormous.
So today, I am asking as a friend, family member, and just a passionate advocate for the arts--please, please give a gift today to my campaign for BAM!
- $15 brings one kid to a world-class performance of theater, dance, music, or film at BAM, with a workshop before the show and a Q&A with the artists after
- $50 gets 10 kids to and from BAM every week for a free after-school program
- $75 makes it possible for three families to get ticket assistance to attend a live performance
- $150 helps one special-needs class participate in a 11-week in-school course in writing, reading, and performing poetry
It's true to say that I would be incredibly thankful for your support. But this really isn't about me. More importantly, I would be grateful and proud of the contribution you have made to the kids who will be changed forever for the better by BAM, and for supporting our community.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
