BENEFITING: Banner Neighborhoods Community Corporation
Transportation is something many of us take for granted. Too often we get into our vehicles and head to our destinations without thinking of the real ability our cars give us. Think about it, a vehicle is more than four wheels, it is a vessel that can take us wherever we need to go. Road trips to faraway places, a quick trip to grab groceries or even a journey across the Bay Bridge to spend some time on the beach in Ocean City. The vehicles provide our means of escape, venturing out of our homes and neighborhoods and experiencing all that life has to offer.
Banner Neighborhoods, a community non-profit based in Southeast Baltimore City, is looking to raise funds in order to provide these life experiences for neighborhood kids by purchasing a van. Banner Neighborhoods, in addition to providing services for seniors in their neighborhood, offers a variety of out of school and youth programs to give kids a safe place in their community to learn and grow. A group from the GIVE Program, run by Business Volunteers of Maryland, has partnered to support Banner with projects that will expand and strengthen their work.
One of the great things Banner Neighborhoods provides, are field trip experiences to youth ranging from elementary to highschool in the neighborhood, to get out and experience what Baltimore and the surrounding area has to offer. Past field trips have included taking kids from their Art Club to a museum to learn about and see magnificent works of art or taking their Academic Achievers to the Science Center to have some hands on fun with learning.
Banner provides these opportunities to these kids because the organization knows the importance of experiences outside of your own neighborhood and that’s why we are asking for your help to support Banner in raising funds to purchase a van. With this van, Banner will be able to provide additional trips without having to worry about the increasing price of renting vehicles or availability. Banner Neighborhoods will be able to expand the reach of their programs and expand the opportunities for the kids they serve. You can help open a window to the world for the youth served by Banner Neighborhoods. Please make your gift today to support Banner Neighborhoods' efforts to purchase a van!
About Banner Neighborhoods:
Banner Neighborhoods began in 1982 as a small neighborhood project helping elderly homeowners on a fixed income maintain their homes and live independently in their neighborhood as long as they possibly could. Over the years, Banner has grown to become an umbrella organization for the neighborhood associations within our boundaries. Responding to the changing needs in the neighborhood, we have added programs incrementally through the years and have developed strategic partnerships and collaborations that are consistent with our mission. www.bannerneighborhoods.org
