Barbara Ann Lemke – 73, Barbara was born on May 11, 1938 in Leesburg, FL to Ted C. and Ruth Prosser. She graduated from Leesburg High School (Florida) and then went on to receive her R.N. from Indiana University. She was a public health nurse for Marion County in Indianapolis, IN and also worked at Wishard Hospital and Humana Hospital. In 1959, Barbara married Eugene Lemke and moved to Indianapolis, where she was active as a Girl Scout leader and a guardian-ad-litem. After she moved to The Villages, FL, she continued her guardian-ad-litem work and was recognized as the volunteer of the Year for the Fifth Judicial Circuit. Barbara is survived by her brother, Ted C. Prosser (Ellen); two daughters Lisa Halsworth and Kimberly Bell (Gregg), and one son Gary Lemke; ten grandchildren Heidi, Ryan, Kaitlin, Eric, Lauren, Emily, Lia, Caroline, Connor, and Olivia.Barbara had a special love of animals and volunteered her time at the Indianapolis Zoo. She loved cruises, bargain hunting, stained glass artwork, and playing card games with friends and family.A gathering will be on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Beyers Funeral Home, The Villages-Lady Lake (134 U.S. 441, Lady Lake, FL 352-753-4444, with a memorial service following at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s name to HALF – the Human Animal Life Foundation for abused children and animals.
