Hi, friends! We really need your help. If you've followed our posts on Facebook, then you know that we are caring for a little dog named Barbara. She arrived to us from California and was incredibly fearful. After much love and TLC, she learned to trust her foster mom, and we made her available for adoption. Unfortunately, within hours of being adopted, Barbara escaped from her new home and went missing. Thanks to all of you, Barbara's story was shared far and wide, and she was rescued then reunited with us. She has been in a foster home ever since her return, and we are happy to report that she is learning to trust humans again.
But her time away from us took its toll. After a recent vet appointment, we've learned that Barbara desperately needs a dental. One tooth is broken, and the gum has receded on the other. She will need extractions and gingival flap surgery. Barbara has been through so much in her short life already, and we can't bear the thought of her being in pain or discomfort.
We have oodles of soft, yummy food for Barbara to eat now and after her surgery. (Thank you to everyone who has donated wet food to our Rescue.) But dental care itself is pretty darn expensive, so we're asking for help with her treatment. We rely on donations that have to be stretched pretty thin, as we don't receive any funding from city, state, or local governments. We're donation-funded, folks, which means we're getting very good at pinching pennies. We're sharing the estimate for Barbara's dental in the hopes that we can get some help with this bill. Any money raised in excess of Barbara's dental care will be used to care for the other dogs in our building. (Seems like they always need something or other, demanding little things. Still, we love them.) Thank you in advance for any help you can offer to sweet Barbara.
P.S. While you're thinking of Barbara, we wanted to let you know that she still needs a home. And that she's cute. And that she deserves a forever family who will earn her trust and love.
