Funds For Barbi
September 13, 2016
Today I was going to update my CrowdRise Fundraiser for one of my dearest friends, Barbi Hammack. First, I wanted to thank everybody who has donated to Barbi's cause. I know that she is beyond touched by all of you who have been there for her and have donated to this cause. Although Barbi has had her first of what we thought was only going to be two surgeries, however, Barbi had to undergo emergency surgery TODAY to basically redo what the doctor did the first time. I believe this 2nd Surgery on her neck was worse than the first one. She was in so much pain. This second surgery is going to probably take a little bit longer to heal. She still has another surgery coming up at the end of this month for the fast growing tumor that is behind her ear. They will probably have to reschedule this surgery because of complications from the First Surgery. We still have a lot of money to raise to help her out. As most of you know, Barbi is a contract employee, and if she does not work, she does not get paid. I am resending this fundraiser to help her get there or close enough so that she is not stressed out before or after her surgeries because of finances. So I hope that you all can find it in your heart to help my dear friend. Once again thanks to all of you who have donated and who also came out to our Fundraiser at the West Alabama Ice House. We will be having another fundraiser either in Houston, maybe at the West Alabama Ice House or somewhere else to help raise money for my dear friend Barbi, So I am begging all of you at this point, to please reach out to Barbi and help her in this time of need. A little goes a long way. We thank all of you who can, and if you can't, please pray for her every day. You do not have to give much, just give. Thank you.
My friend, Barbara Hammack aka Barbi, has been diagnosed with a Thyroglossal Duck Cyst behind her hyoid bone and a Fast-growing Parotid Tumor behind her ear. She has been suffering for two months with her glands swelling up so large that it would close her throat and cause an emergency room visit. After several misdiagnosis, she has finally found the cause. The ENT wants them out as soon as possible including the middle section of her hyoid bone. Neither of these are usually cancer but can be, especially the fast-growing tumor. They will not know if it is cancer until it is removed. They will be doing two surgeries, first the cyst due to it's constant up and down swelling and they fear it closing her airway passages. Once recovered from the first surgery, they will schedule the second surgery to remove the tumor. In both cases, she will be out of work for at least 1 week, with no pay. The sad thing is Barbara has been struggling off and on for the past 2 years working as a contract employee and as an Administrative Assistant with no insurance. She was unable to afford the Affordable Care Act. She especially had a hard time after being laid off in December trying to find work and to keeping herself from losing everything (home, car, etc.) It's been a very difficult time for her but she has remained positive and upbeat and forging ahead. She has now found a new contract job with a major company in early June. However, shortly after starting this new position, became extremely ill with all of this. She can acquire insurance through the agency that placed on this contract job on a sponsored Affordable Care Act insurance plan but it will not become effective until August 1st. For someone living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to keep her head above water, she needs help with her impending medical expenses. Let's please try to help her raise money to meet her $2500 deductible and $6200 Out-of-Pocket expenses before her 70/30 insurance picks up the rest. She will have medications, doctors visits after her hospitalization not to mention her loss of work. As a contractor, if she doesn't work, she doesn't get paid. She really needs the help and is someone who truly deserves it. She has been struggling for so long and we are amazed at how she continues to remain positive though gets frustrated from time to time. She has just had blow after blow after blow and really deserves a break. She still thinks of others and if you can believe this, feels she is being selfish because she hasn't checked in on everyone. We all tell her to just concentrate on herself. The poor girl is so embarrassed and humbled by her situation. Please help our loving friend Barbi who really needs your help. Please share this on your social media accounts and help us get the word out. We thank you and God Bless You!
