Barb's Feral Cat Rescue Fund
Organized by: Barbara miller
When I moved into this neighborhood, I saw a dozen mama cats with 4 or 5 kittens behind each one crossing the street looking for food. That was just on my block. Being on social security, it took me quite a while to get them all spayed or neutered and rabies shots, but I finally got them all done. I released them, and I feed them 3 times daily because they don't all come for every feeding. Some might not get a meal if I don't feed at 3 different times. I also have 3 rescued dogs and a rescued cockatiel. I got Missy, a huge blond lab, from the dog pound an hour before she was to be killed because she's old. I found Jake, an ugly little mongrel, skin and bones on a street where people were being mean to him for begging. The cockatiel, Mikey, and the Chihuahua, Stevie, belonged to a neighbor who was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. Because she knew I'd love them and take good care of them, she begged me to keep them. So here I am making $1133 monthly on social security trying to care for 25 cats, 3 dogs, and a bird! I charged over $500 last month on my credit card to get rabies boosters and heart worm, ear mite, tape worm, and flea meds for them all. A friend suggested I try asking for help on crowdrise, so that's my story. I hope somebody out there will help me. I'm not really looking to raise $50,000, but maybe over the course of the lives of the cats - you never know. :) I'd also like to get a small covered deck built so the cats will have a safe, dry place to spend the winter. We have coyotes here, so they need to be in the yard to be safe.
