Imagine living your day to day life, without easy access to clean water, energy or education.
With every rising sun, 1 Billion humans wake to a world without these common resources.
What does this mean?
Without clean & accessible water, children & women travel for hours only to arrive home with 40lbs of unhealthy, contaminated water (we're talking about e coli, salmonella, cholera, hep.A and more). Africa alone spends 40 Billion hours every year collecting the very same liquid that demises them.
Without renewable energy the poorest populations must plunder limited resources to provide a single flame of light for their families. Many nights, they are left in the dark without the ability to capitalize on hours after sunset. This means that because most developing regions work during the day - including children - they lose out on opportunities at night for things like education, recreation or development.
Here is the good news: You Can Change This, Now.
By contributing today, you're helping Barefoot College rectify these common problems Village by Village.

About Barefoot College:
For 40 years, Barefoot College has been innovating around the barriers impeding access to knowledge for the most marginalized rural poor. Transferring this access, control and ownership to the rural poor - mostly illiterate and disabled women and men - has enabled thousands of people in hundreds of villages to become solar and water engineers, teachers, doctors and dignified artisans once again.
Recognizing that women are serious change agents and must be encouraged and empowered to take up their natural roles as environmental stewards and active participants in their own development, the barefoot college has directed focus on training grandmothers - Watch this field report, by Climate Reality.
At the 2014 Clinton Global Initiative, we committed to launch six solar engineering training centers in Africa. With your support, we will demystify solar technology and place it in the hands of the rural poor through a sustainable and proven model. Our new solar grandmothers will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to transform themselves and their communities more than ever before.
This challenge is an opportunity to bring us closer to redefine education everywhere! We are aiming to collectively raise $100,000, and we'll need your support, big or small, to get there.
