THE STORY:

Let's Roll Over And Get Down To Business Helping Veterans With PTSD & Rescued Service Dogs!

Excited to announce that joing us in our New York benfit on September 30th are Law and Order’s Danny Pino and Richard Belzer. Joining our Los Angeles benefit on October 5th we have Glee's Jane Lynch  and joining us for our New Orleans benefit on October 11th is New Orleans Saint's Sean Payton!

Every 65 Minutes a Veteran returning from service affected with PTSD commits suicide.

The Department of Veterans Affairs states that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects nearly 30% all soldiers and 184 new cases are diagnosed daily. This is an alarming statistic, but studies prove dogs are very therapeutic, healing, and warriors with PTSD and military-related stresses and injuries greatly benefit.

The K9s for Warriors Program pulls dogs from shelters prior to being euthanized and trains them to meet Canine Good Citizen standards. Upon completion, they are paired with a Veteran with PTSD based upon the special needs of the Veteran and the special tasks the dog is most capable of performing. In this valiant effort, the program costs approximately $10,000 to graduate one Veteran/canine pair.

Shari Duval (wife of PGA TOUR player Bobby Duval) was inspired by her own son to start this program. Duval explains, “My son, Brett Simon, returned home from two tours in Iraq as a bomb dog handler. I didn’t even know what PTSD was. I only knew that my son came home a different person.”   She continued, “Our family noticed that when he was with his canines he was better, more like the ‘old Brett. Our family had the resources to help Brett, but we know most do not. I spent two years researching service dog therapy and finally decided to open the K9’s For Warrior Program/Rescue.”

K9′s For Warriors’ success is a triumph for the organization and Veterans.  Duval commented, “The warriors arrive here broken on two legs and leave here recovered on six.  They are able to do things that weren’t possible before they received their service dog.” She added, “These dogs provide more medical improvement for the warriors than all the drugs they have been prescribed.”

Despite the VA agreeing with the therapeutic potential of service dogs for PTSD sufferers, the dogs aren’t covered by any insurance plan. Fortunately, there are nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing canine service dogs to Veterans, such as K9s For Warriors!

Animal Fair Media’s bestselling author, pet lifestyle expert, and animal advocate, Wendy Diamond learned that every hour a Veteran commits suicide and launched an initiative to pair Veterans with service dogs. Wendy Diamond partnered with K9s For Warriors to bring awareness about our warriors in serious need and raise much needed donations for our Veterans with PTSD, disabilities, and brain traumatic injury.

Wendy and friends set off on The Bark Business ten city national tour They’re on a mission and won’t roll over until at least $150,000 is raised by Veteran’s Day and donated to K9s For Warriors. Wendy Diamond & Animal Fair will keep digging until enough funds are raised to fund Fifteen (15) Veterans with PTSD/Service Dog Teams.

SAVE A VETERAN – SAVE A DOG!

Our fundraiser is 100% transparent, 94 cents of every dollar will help a Veteran with PTSD receive a service dog from K9s For Warriors. Each benefactor will personally get a chance to follow each Veteran and service dog saved through social media. We hope you can donate $10, $50, $100, $500, $1,000 or sponsor a Veteran/Service Dog Team for $10,000 - any amount you can afford to help this foundation!

We hope you accept this invitation to get involved with this inspirational event and join us in this worthy endeavor by supporting an event that is vital for us all.

Guests at the Bark Business tour can buy tickets but also can create their own personal fundraiser to inspire friends, family and coworkers to support a Veteran and service dog. Proceeds raised from each individual city will directly benefit the warrior from that location – giving donors the power to decide exactly where their money goes and ability to support Veterans in their local community!

Our CrowdRise platform is dedicated to K9s for Warriors and Veterans that have selflessly defended our nation. Donors who support K9s for Warriors or attend the Bark Business Breakfast Benefits are able to personally choose which of the ten cities they want to donate to or attend through Social Media and email updates donors will be able to follow and track the Veteran and service dog they personally helped save.

Wendy Diamond founded Animal Fair Media in 1999, and it grew to become a universal business model for merging the celebrity and pop culture to the animal rescue/welfare world. Diamond’s passion for helping animals through business has helped lessen the number of animals euthanized annually in the U.S. from 12 million in 1999; now down to 4 million.

Wendy Diamond has dedicated her new book, How To Train Your Boss to Roll Over, to all the Veterans that have worked tirelessly and selflessly defending democracy and our nation. The book is an entertaining and instructional manual threaded with Wendy’s trademark levity and wit that reinterprets successful dog-training strategies for the workplace. On the tour, Wendy will encourage small and large business owners, coworkers, pet parents and patriots to engage in social good and make a difference by supporting our Veterans and service dogs via K9s For Warriors.

Thanks to our generous sponsors, the tour will 100% benefit K9s For Warriors. Ellen DeGeneres’ pet food company, Halo, Purely for Pets knows that natural nutrition is imperative for service dogs (and all dogs) because it ensures a long, happy life with their parents are on board with supporting the K9s For Warriors Bark Breakfast Benefit Tour! American Express Open has partnered with us to empower and support Veteran small business owners. The Loews and Omni pet-friendly hotels are graciously providing the space for the Bark Business Breakfast, so we can gather, raise money, and get the bark out about K9s For Warriors!
