Dear Friends -
As you may have heard, my family has recently been impacted by pancreatic cancer. I have decided to participate in this challenging event to help raise funds to help those whose lives have been impacted by pancreatic cancer.
The obstacles I will face in this Tough Mudder are challenging, but they are nothing compared to what pancreatic cancer patients face on a daily basis. However, with the help of others, these obstacles can be conquered. It is much the same with pancreatic cancer. With your help we can provide valuable funds so that those facing pancreatic cancer can overcome their obstacles and those working to cure pancreatic cancer can continue their research.
Together we can make mud matter and get tough on pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States, and is one of the few cancers for which survival has not improved substantially over nearly 40 years. Its symptoms are vague and there are no detection tools to diagnose the disease in its early stages when surgical removal of the tumor is still possible. Thus, treatment options for pancreatic cancer are limited. Perhaps most surprising, is the fact that, despite being one of the deadliest forms of cancer, pancreatic cancer prevention and treatment research has been, and continues to be, woefully underfunded. Organizations like Project Purple help provide valuable research funding for pancreatic cancer.
