Dear Most Wonderful Marathon…
Dear Most Wonderful Marathon Supporters,

I DID IT!!!!

After months of long runs, short runs, tempo runs, easy runs, blisters, shin splints, early mornings, early nights, water, gatorade, goo, socks, and a dog I successfully COMPLETED THE CHICAGO MARATHON! I finished with a new personal best of 4 hours 46 minutes, which is about 7 minutes faster than last year. This is isn't quite the massive improvement I was hoping for when I started training, but I'm very very proud that I ran a much more consistent race, with only 11 minutes difference from my first to second half of the race, versus a 40 minute decline last year. This explains why I finished feeling great and felt like I had a lot more strength this year: I started off just a tiny bit slower, and that made all the difference. I have graphs to support this if anyone wants the data (Ben). I ran 14 miles with friends, saw my parents at multiple points, saw more friends along the way, and read lots of very funny signs. I got a little emotional at the end when I got my medal, and overall just feel fantastic about the whole experience. None of this would've been possible without your support, so again I say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. And to anyone who thinks "I could never do a marathon," 1. past Zach can relate and 2. set a smaller goal first, and I bet you can reach it!

Thank you so much,

Dear Supporters- More than…
Dear Supporters-

More thanks and an update!

I can't believe I'm now 2/3 of the way though training and less than two months from the race. This weekend my long run was 16 miles, my longest run ever, and it went really really well. I only have two longer runs in training (18, and 20) to go! I'm really feeling like completing the marathon is an attainable goal at this point, and not so far away in a way that's exciting and not quite as scary as it was at the beginning.

I've never run with other people before and it makes a huge difference having new friends to talk to and help pass the time. Often the subject of fundraising will come up and I feel very proud that when others talk about having trouble getting people to contribute that I have all of you who gave so quickly and generously. Thank you again, and my next update should say I DID IT! Thanks for helping me make this possible, and of course for supporting great teachers and students!

Thanks x 26.2,
