The National Wounded Warrior Center in Mammoth Mountain, CA empowers wounded, sick and injured servicemen and women by facilitating their transitions into fulfilling civilian lives. The Center rehabilitates, educates and offers counseling to these heroes.
As you read more about this charity below, I will ask you to do 3 things; 1) contribute whatever you can, 2) forward this to certain friends or your database; you probably have ties to people who served in the military; and, 3) ask if your employer sponsors charities. This is an organization worthy of a corporate sponsorship.
The National Wounded Warrior Center offers Wounded Warriors what they need to:
LEARN a new vocation
HEAL physical and psychological wounds
THRIVE in their new lives!
Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra greatly enhances the National Wounded Warrior Center program by adding counseling, education and accessible lodging for our deserving heroes. This is a volunteer-based nonprofit dedicated to changing the lives of the disabled and their families by offering year-round outdoor sports and activities, creating inspiring challenges, providing expert instruction and adaptive equipment, and rallying the community to comfortably accommodate people with disabilities. They believe the freedom and exhilaration of outdoor challenges changes lives. No one should be left behind simply because of a disability!
The goal is to restore and rehabilitate the whole person, improving independence and reducing the effects of the disability, by providing resources and opportunities to enhance various aspects of holistic health and well-being including cardiovascular endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility.
The wide variety of adaptive sports opens the door for participants to explore their potential. This in turn builds self esteem and self-discipline, which gives them confidence in all aspects of their lives. We strive to facilitate change in participants’ thoughts, feelings, physical fitness, coordination, and behavior with big smiles of success. The participants gain specific skills of each sport they participate in and improve physical fitness that helps them lead a healthy lifestyle beyond participation in these programs.

Wounded Warriors does very inspiring and moving work for those forgotten heroes returning home. Again, I ask 3 things: 1) contribute whatever you can, 2) forward this to certain friends or your database; you probably have ties to people who served in the military; and, 3) ask if your employer sponsors worthy charities devoted to our military.
Thank you, Barry Zimmermann
