In 2014, NICA started a youth soccer league, the first of its kind for the rural community. Utilizing the babseball stadium NICA built for the community in 2011, NICA provides a safe, clean place for youth ages 11-19 to practice and play soccer after school.
Just like every program NICA manages in the community, there is a catch: students must attend school reguarly. In return, students can participate in the league.
As you can imagine, organizing 60+ youth is no easy task. They need uniforms, balls and transportation to play other teams. Its very costly. However, it is possible with partners like you. Donations for this project go directly to the youth teams.
Want to volunteer and play soccer with the youth in the afternoons? You can! In fact, most of the uniforms and balls have come from volunteers like you. We will even find housing and food for you while you stay with us. Just reach out to us for details, and we'll explain how it works.
The youth are looking forward to a friendly game soon, so donate to their cause or reach out to us to find out how to volunteer!
