BENEFITING: 16 Things Kids Can Do Inc
EVENT DATE: May 22, 2017
The “Basketball & Bonding” Parent and Child Legacy Building Clinic is a free program created by Tanasia Russell a volunteer and Lyle Benjamin, Executive Director of 16 Things Kids Can Do, a non-profit educational organization. This program’s objectives are: 1. To have parents and children strengthen their bonds through playing basketball 2. To have parents learn how to provide a happier, healthier and more successful future for their families through proper financial literacy and planning 3. To create a home environment that continues to work together as a team to achieve family goals The “Basketball & Bonding” program bonds parents and their children through basketball. We do this in 1-hour sessions where the kids get trained in basketball while the parents go to a financial workshop where they learn how to properly save, protect and grow their money for buying a house, funding their children’s education, and building for retirement. After 30 minutes we get the parents and kids back together and the kids spend 10-minutes teaching their parents what they learned (even if their parent was in the NBA!) For the last 20 minutes the kids and parents team up and 6-10 year-olds play Horse and 11-16 year-olds play games … but they do it together, on the same team.
