BOULDER, COLO. (For Immediate Release) - Against the striking backdrop of the San Andres Mountains, on March 27th, Tony Stafford will attempt to break the 20-year old record of the fastest race while running through the desert with a 40lb pack on his back. The Bataan Memorial Death March is set to host upwards to 6000 people and takes place at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, conducted in honor of the heroic service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II, sacrificing their freedom, health and lives.
Stafford aims to trump the record set on April 21, 1991 by Paddy Doyle (UK) at the London Marathon. When it comes to pack contents, Tony will load it up with 40lbs of non-perishable food, all to be donated to the Community Action Agency Food Bank; New Mexico’s largest food bank.
Also, working together with Outdoor Mindset, a local Boulder, CO non-profit with a mission of uniting and inspiring those facing neurological challenges to "live big" through a common pass for outdoor adventure, Stafford hopes to raise awareness for the organization and assist them in realizing their goal of raising $25k (by March 31st) to support their mission.
Tony Stafford is a dedicated marathon runner and professional marathon pacer throughout the United States. Stafford founded Boulder Sports Performance in Boulder, Colorado to support his passion for training endurance athletes to achieve their athletic aspirations.
