For those of you that don't know, I will be headed on a crazy adventure to Mt. Everest in less than 1 week with some old friends and new ones. This journey will be unlike any that I have ever been on.
I will be trekking with team members from around the world, including the first Kenyan, Steve Obbayi to climb Everest. We will be stopping in communities along the way and teaching how technology can improve people’s lives and access to healthcare.
However, this journey isn't just about us. It's for the 2.5 billion people worldwide that don't have access to proper sanitation and basic needs to live healthy lives. It's for every child that dies every 17 seconds due to lack of sanitation, unclean water and poor hygiene.
Sanitation is an orphaned cause that is often left behind at the bottom of the global to-do list, even though it affects everything, including our health, education, environment, economies, and particularly women and girls.
Today, nearly 40% of the world does not have access to sanitation or toilets, or approximately the same number of people who live in the United States, India and Africa combined.
We can change this - we are changing this. On March 27th, I will meet Steve and a group of friends in Kathmandu to set out and raise the banners of Sanitation for All at Everest to see. We will call on governments around the world to take sanitation to the top of their agendas and step up their commitments to end this worldwide crisis by 2025.
My goal is simple, to raise AT LEAST $1k in the next week through friends and family for our cause. Everyone deserves to live a healthy life. You can truly make a difference. Every dollar counts.
He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life. -Muhammed Ali
