Gratitude on Day 5
March 10, 2017
Please support my work with the Bay Area Black Worker Center.
I'm so proud to be a part of the Bay Area Black Worker Center. One of the most meaningful things I have done was to volunteer for the Black Worker Center at “A Fair Chance to Advance" event. Oakland residents got access to resources to change felonies to misdemeanors, free legal advice, and opportunities to meet employers. I am truly inspired by the work of the Bay Area Black Worker Center.
I am a member because our organizing work transforms lives! Our campaign last summer won 1,400 Alameda county jobs for the formerly incarcerated.
We continue in 2017 to reach out to Black Bay Area residents working in Oakland to learn more about their experiences with the recent increase in the Oakland minimum wage and the exploitation that Black workers especially those who are formerly incarcerated are facing in the workplace.
Freedom is not free. As an Oakland teacher, I know how good jobs make our communities safe and strong. Please consider making a donation to support my organizing work to help our community access to good jobs.
