THE STORY:

This is a fundraiser for 10th grader Susan Wanjugu who goes to Daraja Academy in Kenya. Susan is from an area just 40 minutes from campus. Her family depends on manual labor and farming to make ends meet with. With the droughts that Kenya has been facing in the last few years, it has made it incredibly difficult to sustain an income or to have food to eat- going to high school was only a dream for Susan. It costs about $500 to go to high school in Kenya. Students have to pay for tuition, as well as school supplies and uniforms. The drop rate from elementary school to high school is 80%. Susan's life path was set to make her another statistic.

When the administrators spoke with school staff in Susan's hometown, they asked which girl the staff felt would best utilize Daraja's 4-year school scholarship. Every single one said, "Susan." Fortunately, Susan's brilliance and determination to succeed awarded her a four year scholarship to Daraja Academy...a twist in her fate that will not only change the course of her future, but that of her future children.
We need to raise money to fund Susan's education so she can become successful!
