BENEFITING: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
TOGETHER WE CAN TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF SO MANY CHILDREN!
On April 15, 2013 I will be running 26.2 miles in the 117th Boston marathon. This will be my 48th marathon overall, my 28th time running this prestigious race, and my 8th year running to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay (BBBSMB). In years past, I have been successful in raising critical funds for the agency, and it is my goal to again raise more than $5,000 for the children in our community.
For the past 19 years, my son, Brendan, now 29, has enjoyed combining families with his Big Brother, Jim. We have shared the joys of Jim getting married, the birth of his four children, joint holiday traditions and even my wedding. Jim has been recognized for his unwavering commitment and devotion to Brendan with the Big Brother of the Year Award and was inducted into the Hall of Fame, as one of the longest established relationships between “Bigs” and “Littles.” He continues to provide much needed guidance that ensures Brendan reaches his full potential in his “special” life in a group home and job program.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay is one of the premiere mentoring agencies in the country with the wisdom of over 60 years of experience. Brendan is fortunate to be just one of the thousands of lives that have been enriched by BBBSMB’s magical work.
Please support families like mine and make dreams come true. Every donation directly underwrites the recruiting, screening, matching, and support of “Bigs” and “Littles” by trained professional staff and are tax deductible.
