NEW VIDEO!! Before and After
July 13, 2016

Check out our NEW Before and After Video!!! Is your dog in it??? We hope so. Truth be told, it would impossible to include ALL our adopted animals  See more

THE STORY:

Ah! What a bunch. What a place. Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation seems to get itself tangled in a ton of things, but they are ALL great! We've been doing so much for our stray cats and dogs over these last 5 years, (our average placement per year is aproximately 500 animals!) but even better (okay, maybe not "better" but certainly good) is that we are bringing a community of people together and providing safe places and a family for so many of our volunteers too! Our only problem is space.  This Saving Pets Challenge couldn't have come at a better time!  With 5 years of rescue behind us, a pretty educated original core staff and the largest volunteer base to date, BCP&R is ready to take on a bigger facility.  One that can have outdoor dogruns, grass, bigger spaces for our animals to feel like they are on their way to their furrrever homes.  And, well...to SAVE MORE!! An opportunity like this Challenge does not come up often.  Every dollar counts.  We already know that for sure, being a 501c3.

What DO we do at BCP&R? ummm....let's see. We place the pitbull that everyone says cannot be adopted into a home.  (Hi Donny, Hi Hudson, Hi Slate....the list is endless. Look at our pictures and stuff).  We nurse baby kittens back to health with bottle feeding and IV's if we have to.  We socialize our animals.  We really do.  Our volunteers go out of thier way to socialize them, taking them out on hikes, fostering them and pack walks.  A ton of stuff. Hey, half of our youngest volunteers that started with us in their teens are heading out to veterinarian school or pursuing careers in animal welfare and health. They are pretty dedicated these kids and we care about them too.

We also are members of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Certified Emergency Response Team Members (CERT) AND County Animal Response Team Members (CART). So, yeah, we've made the news a few times for our response efforts to Hurricane Sandy, The Avalon fire in Edgewater, NJ and a ton of other, both natural and man-made disasters!!! We never knew just how much we would be using these certifications, but we can't imagine NOT helping either.

We have had our share of hoarding cases as well.  Over 50 Labrador Mixes, 81 Cats and 5 Dogs, Chihuahhua Mixes and Shihtzus.  We will tell the story. Every week. Right here. Meet our success stories, our crazy staff and volunteers.  Every week we are going to highlight the miracles of Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation. Please join us for the ride, won't you?
