Can we get 5000+ dancers around the world to dance with us?
Yes, we can (with your help)! The Baltimore Dance Crews Project will be posting a series of short choreographed dance tutorials on our Instagram (@baltimoredcp) on #GivingTuesday (December 1). We want the world to dance and donate with us on #GivingTuesday! Post yourself doing the dance breaks on Instagram using #BDCPinstablitz and #givingtuesday. It is our hope that we help you find a little joy in your day.
We also ask that you support us on #GivingTuesday by sharing our campaign with your friends, families, neighbors, mail person, co-workers, etc. to take a dance break and consider providing a small monetary gift to BDCP. By dancing and donating, we can bring BDCP Dance Blitz Days to schools across the Baltimore region.
Blitz (n.) a sudden, energetic, and concerted effort
WHAT IS A BDCP BLITZ DAY?
On Blitz Days, BDCP partners with dancers and volunteers to teach dance workshops across numerous Baltimore schools on a single day. We provide a one-hour introductory hip-hop dance workshop to schools that may not have access to dance programming and introduce schools to BDCP. BDCP recently partnered with Johns Hopkins University's hip-hop dance troupe, SLAM, to connect with college students and youth.
HOW YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS SUPPORT BDCP:
For every $30
BDCP will provide a month of hip-hop dance training to one child
For every $150
BDCP will provide one hip-hop dance workshop to 25 students (and their teachers)
For every $2500
BDCP will provide an 8-week hip-hop dance program for 25 students
For every $5000
BDCP will provide a recital performance serving 300+ students
ABOUT THE BALTIMORE DANCE CREWS PROJECT
The Baltimore Dance Crews Project's mission to continually advance access to hip-hop dance opportunities to connect, engage, and empower youth. We believe quality in-school and out-of-school time hip-hop dance programming that is grounded in transformative relationships advances academic achievement, promotes healthy lifestyles, and unlocks the leadership of youth.
During the 2014-2015 school year, BDCP exposed over 2500 students hip-hop dance. This season we are already surpassing that benchmark. Between June 2015 and October 2015, BDCP shared the joy of hip-hop dance with nearly 2000 students across the Baltimore region. With your support, we can deepen and expand our programming.
