BDPA Chicago plans to give out $500 scholarships to ten (10) students for their participation in the chapter's Computer Camp. Another five (5) student will receive $1,000 scholarships for earning a spot on the city's national team competing at the 26th annual BDPA High School Computer Competition (HSCC) championships being held Aug 3-6 in Chicago.
This Crowdrise Project seeks to raise $10,000 to fully fund the scholarships that will be presented to these students and their parents at the chapter's annual banquet in October 2011.
BDPA Chicago became the 14th chapter in the nation when it began on March 15, 1986. The chapter has a potent legacy in BDPA history that includes 'BDPA Chapter of the Year' honors in 1991-1993, 2000 and 2005. BDPA Chicago students won the national HSCC championship in 1994 and 2006.
WHAT IS HIGH SCHOOL COMPUTER COMPETITION?
HSCC is a computer instructional program available to Chicago students in grades 8 through 12. Participating students receive quality instruction in basic computer skills, computer programming languages, website development, database design public speaking and career development. BDPA student competitions and projects are an important key to help grow a passion in these young people for science, technology and mathematics!
