BENEFITING: Docs In Progress Inc
Docs In Progress needs to raise matching funds between now and the end of July to support artist services, community screenings, and scholarships.
Make me a match,
Find me a find,
Catch me a catch
Look through your book,
And make me a perfect match
While many of us know these familiar words from the Broadway classic Fiddler on the Roof, these aren't just words appropriate to people who try to gently guide two folks to become romantically involved. These are also words which describe so much of what is at the heart of Docs In Progress. Our role is to gently guide filmmakers closer to their ideal match of training or professional development, of opportunities to connect with potential collaborators, of navigating the ins and outs of the documentary field and the ups and downs of their own filmmaking.
We meet you where you are -- whether you are an aspiring filmmaker seeking to understand the process, an emerging filmmaker who needs a support system to move up to the next level with your filmmaking and career, or an established filmmaker who simply needs access to very specific professional development or networking opportunities. Heck, even if you just like to watch documentaries, we have an eclectic showcase of documentaries for you to find your perfect connection.
But what happens when the matchmaker needs a match?
That's where you come in. While you may know that Docs In Progress receives grant funding to support some of our key programs, did you also know that many of these grants require us to match the grant dollar for dollar?
Will you be our matchmaker? For every dollar donated to Docs In Progress this summer, we will use those funds to match grant funds which help support our programs, including:
* Artist Services (Peer Pitch, Fellowship, and the Filmmaker-in-Residence)
* Community Stories Festival (our annual free film festival spotlighting local films)
* Scholarships for our production classes and summer camps
* Our new Docs In The City series which pairs experienced and emerging documentary filmmakers to showcase their work in a public screening program.
This year marks our 13th year of programming so we see this as an auspicious milestone. While we need to raise $25,000 before the end of the year, $13,000 seemed like a reasonable goal to reach by the end of August.
Will donations be tax-deductible?
Docs In Progress is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations where no perk is received in return will be tax deductible to the full extent of the law. If a tangible perk is accepted, the value of that perk will be deducted from the value of the donation.
Are there perks?
Anyone who donates at least $50 can opt to receive a t-shirt or water bottle with an I Heart Documentaries logo. These will be distributed in the early fall.
Can I donate anonymously?
While the staff of Docs In Progress need to know who has donated for tax-reporting purposes, we honor any requests not to make the amount of your donation or who has donated public via Crowdrise or our website. Just select "Anonymous" when making your donation.
Can I make a donation in honor or memory of someone?
Yes indeed. Simply note that in the comments section when you make your donation.
I don't feel comfortable donating online. Is there another way to donate?
Yes. You may make a check payable to "Docs In Progress" and mail to:
