BENEFITING: Docs In Progress Inc
Docs In Progress needs to raise matching funds between now and the end of July to support artist services, community screenings, and scholarships.
Make me a match,
Find me a find,
Catch me a catch
Look through your book,
And make me a perfect match
While many of us know these familiar words from the Broadway classic Fiddler on the Roof, these aren't just words appropriate to people who try to gently guide two folks to become romantically involved. These are also words which describe so much of what is at the heart of Docs In Progress. Our role is to gently guide filmmakers closer to their ideal match of training or professional development, of opportunities to connect with potential collaborators, of navigating the ins and outs of the documentary field and the ups and downs of their own filmmaking.
We meet you where you are -- whether you are an aspiring filmmaker seeking to understand the process, an emerging filmmaker who needs a support system to move up to the next level with your filmmaking and career, or an established filmmaker who simply needs access to very specific professional development or networking opportunities. Heck, even if you just like to watch documentaries, we have an eclectic showcase of documentaries for you to find your perfect connection.
But what happens when the matchmaker needs a match?
That's where you come in. While you may know that Docs In Progress receives grant funding to support some of our key programs, did you also know that many of these grants require us to match the grant dollar for dollar?
Will you be our matchmaker? For every dollar donated to Docs In Progress this summer, we will use those funds to match grant funds which help support our programs, including:
* Artist Services (Peer Pitch, Fellowship, and the Filmmaker-in-Residence)
* Community Stories Festival (our annual free film festival spotlighting local films)
* Scholarships for our production classes and summer camps
* Our new Docs In The City series which pairs experienced and emerging documentary filmmakers to showcase their work in a public screening program.
Want to make things interesting? Captain a fundraising team and you could win a Docs In Progress All-Access Pass.
One of the things we like about Crowdrise as a fundraising platform is that it allows personalized fundraisers within the broader organizational fundraising campaign. If you feel strongly about being a booster for Docs In Progress, why not compete in our community fundraiser competition?
Whoever -- excluding staff and current board members -- raises the most funds by July 31 for Docs In Progress via Crowdrise will get an All-Access Pass (valued at $2,500) which will get you into as many workshops , classes, roundtables, and screening events you'd like to attend for 12 months. Your fundraising can include your own donation so, whether you just want to make a big donation of your own or engage a lot of others to donate a volume of smaller donations which add up big, you can decide. Best of all, in addition to the Captain winning the All-Access Pass, every person who donates from your team (no matter at what level) will get a Docs In Progress t-shirt.
All you have to do is go to this link
https://www.crowdrise.com/be-a-matchmaker-for-documentaries-support-docs-in-progress and click on the grey button at the right under Money Raised which says "Fundraise for This Campaign." Set up an account if you don't already have one. Once you have completed a few questions, you will then have a direct link which will be your personal campaign for Docs In Progress. You can make your own donation at this link and also share it with others via e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter who you'd like to count towards your personal campaign. We will even send you some suggested text to make it easy. Every dollar you raise through this link will count towards your fundraising total.
Just last month we marked our 13th year of programming so we see this as an auspicious milestone. While we need to raise $25,000 before the end of the year, $13,000 seemed like a reasonable goal to reach by the end of July.
Will donations be tax-deductible?
Docs In Progress is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations where no perk is received in return will be tax deductible to the full extent of the law. If a tangible perk is accepted, the value of that perk will be deducted from the value of the donation.
Are there perks?
Yes, there will be perks released throughout the campaign. Stay tuned for details.
Can I donate anonymously?
While the staff of Docs In Progress need to know who has donated for tax-reporting purposes, we honor any requests not to make the amount of your donation or who has donated public via Crowdrise or our website. Just select "Anonymous" when making your donation.
Can I make a donation in honor or memory of someone?
Yes indeed. Simply note that in the comments section when you make your donation.
