The Start of the New Year…Can we all “be-Y miracles” happen?

Dear Kindred Spirits,

As I think about the goals for 2013, it has been a year full of blessings. My group of “kindred spirits” have cheered for each other, prayed for each other, supported each other, and most important…loved each other. It is no accident that we are in each other’s lives. For that, I am extremely grateful and humbled.

As I start to make Christmas lists and prepare (mentally and spiritually) for 2014, I want to share a brief story with you all about my first months in El Paso. I moved to El Paso after my boss took a chance on me. She saw something in my story and potential, and hired me as the Chief Operating Officer of Sierra Providence East Medical Center. It was destiny…it was leading me to my other goal to always make an impact on the “world” that I live.

Shortly after joining the team, I had a meeting with the YWCA of El Paso del Norte Region asking me to join the Board. During my board orientation, our CEO Sandra Braham, Ed.D shared the mission and passion behind a group of women who wanted to impact their “world” in El Paso for over 100 years. This year, the YWCA of El Paso del Norte Region is embarking on a major capital campaign, which hasn’t been done in over 14 years. This campaign will provide much needed capital improvements on Transitional Living Centers (TLC) and Early Childhood Centers, funding for Senior Living Apartments, and funding for critical programs that support this underserved community. I feel incredibly blessed to be a member of this community that may not be rich in material possessions, but has wealth that can be defined as love of family and community.

I’m stepping out on faith because I KNOW my circle of Kindred Spirits will join me in supporting this capital campaign. I have made a pledge of $25,000 over five years to the YWCA Capital Campaign. This contribution will allow US to name an apartment in the Transitional Living Center as the “Kindred Spirits Apartment”. This apartment will be a symbolic testament of the blessings and goodness that have bestowed each of us. Together, we can “be-Y miracles happen”.

So, as we begin to say goodbye to 2013 and welcome 2014. I’m asking you to consider making a donation in increments of 2014 e.g., $20.14, $201.40, or $2,014…or more if the spirit moves you.
