Be a part of the sight-saving community

Dear fellow crowd-riser
I am Evon, a passionate optometrist undergraduate, whose post-graduate goal is to establish an eyecare clinic providing affordable ocular assessment and optical services. The optometric scene in Singapore is still largely retail-based and I am hoping to change that by becoming the first to operate an integrated clinic that serves the neighbourhood at affordable prices.
This will require the renting of a bigger shop space and the purchase of several diagnostic equipment (amounting to a whopping $80k in the least) that includes
(1) fundus camera (a machine that takes pictures of the retina to reveal eye conditions/diseases that patient himself may yet to be aware of)
(2) slit lamp (to aid in assessment of corneal integrity and internal eye structures, and for contact lens fitting)
(3) topographer (assesses corneal shape for specialty contact lens fitting)
(4) tonometer (checks ocular eye pressure and helps in detecting glaucoma- the leading thief of sight)
Annual eye health checks are fundamental for the early detection of eye conditions/diseases. However, such comprehensive checks are often expensive and this deters the lower/middle-class and elderly- the very people who need the services most- from seeking help/going for them. My mission is to change this situation by operating professionally in the neighbourhood (lower rent, lower cost, increased accessibility).
I had initially saved a sum for my school fees ($32k) and for this cause. However, the fund has been depleted in recent months as my family got hit with bouts of setbacks that include investments gone awry, a runaway tenant, and the subsequent failure of finding a new tenant in this market downturn (my parents have been shouldering the rent of the unit on top of all things else for 3 months now, depleting family funds as well). To counter this, I have been working (and still am) 6 days a week after school to lessen the family burden as well as to rebuild my equipment fund.
I had planned on starting the eyecare clinic immediately upon graduation in mid-2017 so your contribution, even if just a dollar, will definitely facilitate my cause. All proceeds will go SOLELY to
(1) the completion of my undergraduate programme
(2) my equipment fund, and thereby the establishment of the eyecare clinic.
I really would love to see this dream come to pass. Unfortunately, possessing only skills without funding leads nowhere. If you share my vision (pun intended), I believe our combined efforts will go a long way for the community.
That said, my deepest gratitude (and I'm sure that of those who receive my dedicated care) goes to all those who believe in the provision of quality eye care to the masses- my donors.
