BENEFITING: LONE STAR COWBOY CHURCH
EVENT DATE: Nov 15, 2011
HOURS PLEDGED: 34
My grandpa (Bud) once said, "never trust a man that wears a beard." I am not sure if he was right or not, but I think I would like to point out that there are many historical figures that not only I would trust, but would argue that they bring much credibility to bearded men everywhere...here are a few that I came up with:
Brian Wilson (pitcher from the Giants aka Fear the Beard)
Abraham Lincoln (honest Abe)
and my favorite...Jesus Christ
I have always had a love for facial hair. I think it goes back to the men in my family always had some type of facial hair, mostly mustaches, but I digress. I think a prominent reason for my interest is because I've been unable to grow a 'stache worthy of a cameo on Magnum P.I.
What does facial hair have to do with charity? In an effort to raise funds for an extremely worthwhile cause, I have decided to have some fun along the way...if you are willing to part with some funds. I am trying to support the Lone Star Cowboy Church & Dr. Terry Castleberry in Belize build a facility to provide families and area children a place to learn more about God. The long term goal is for the facility, which consists of 20+ beautiful acres, to be a successful and growing camp that will be utilized by 65 different churches year round.
Here's how it works: I am asking friends, family, and those you share this with (bearded and non-bearded alike) to join me in this FUNdraising effort by donating your hard-earned extra money. I am not going to shave until I raise at least $1000 or October 1, 2011 whichever comes first. My first day in this journey was July 22, 2011. If I raise enough money for this project, then I will be able to join my church in this building effort as well. I will try to add the beard in progress and financial updates. Based on my facial hair experience, I expect this to be one of the ugliest and anemic beards ever recorded and all for a worthy cause!
HOW MUCH? I'm asking you to make a generous donation in the amount of $34. This amount represents $1 for every year I have been alive as well as how many hours I will be working in Belize building for kids!
This project is vital to the kids of Belize because to date, Christian education to children is virtually nonexistent in their churches and missions outlets. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with me to change the lives of some under-privileged kids? I will be thanking all my supporters at the end of the mission, but do know that we could not accomplish this without your generous support. Thank you so much and all glory to God!
