When I decided to run the New York Marathon over a year ago, I wasn't planning on running for any charity or with any other goal in mind other than just finishing. But as the weeks of training have gone by I realized I wanted to run for more than just a bucket list item. I wanted to use this run as an opportunity to help in the fight against cancer and have chosen to donate any funds raised on my behalf to the American Cancer Society. I am choosing the ACS because over the years several of my close friends and family have either had to fight some form of cancer or have lost loved ones to cancer. In fact several dear friends are currently fighting this disease with everything they have. Because my friends and family have faced all types cancer, including brain cancer, breast cancer, and leukemia, I wanted to be sure that I picked a charity, like ACS, that is focused on fighting all types of this horrible disease. I know any funds I raise won't stop the disease but I figure every little bit we can do to get us closer to a cure is a good thing. So help me make this crazy run mean something and donate today!
