Beautify Alexandria One Broken-Down House at a Time
Organized by: Ryan Howell
I'm Ryan, and I live in Alexandria, Louisiana. Alexandria is a town that has a lot of potential, but it also faces difficult challenges.
One of those challenges is that there are many blighted houses throughout our neighborhood. This year, an arsonist set fire to three houses on the same day. This made me very nervous, because there is also a blighted house right next door to where I live and work. The fires were fast and intense, and could threaten my house and business, too.
Recently, I had the opportunity to purchase the blighted house next door. It was a stretch, but the owner let me make payments, and now I own it, along with the responsibility to make it safe.
I believe that the environment around you can affect the way you think and feel about your community. If you're surrounded by neglect, you might feel the same way. This is one small opportunity to affect positive change, right now.
I'm eager to solve this problem as quickly as I can, and I could really use some help to make it more affordable. I received an estimate of $4,000 from a local demolition contractor to take down the house and remove the debris.
Your support to help cover those costs would be sincerely appreciated.
I will be updating this page with progress reports, photos, and videos of the actual demolition process when the time comes. With your support, we'll get there sooner.
Thank you very much for your consideration!
