As most of you know, I've been actively trying to take my passion for funding charitable causes in new and reliable ways to a much more involved level. I started GiveVesting for this purpose and ran into all kinds of rules and laws with the SEC & IRS that hindered that great idea.
I stepped back and decided to try to leverage my business/strategic strengths to help one or more non-profits by looking to join an organization whose mission, team and approach impressed me. That organization is Edge of Seven.
Edge of Seven’s passionate approach to changing the lives of women of all ages through enablement has inspired me to become one of their newest board members. The team at Edge of Seven is made up of intelligent and passionate people doing amazing things. Board meetings are about passion, not profit and projects are completed with budgets that are less than my organization’s corporate spend on office supplies!
This fundraiser is focused on three projects for 2014. I will be going to Nepal in November to help with one of them. Look at how little it takes to make an impact:
1. Kaku Secondary School, Solukhumbu District, Nepal Budget: $18,100 Edge of Seven Commitment: $11,300
2. Naro Moru Primary School Pilot, Naro Moru, Kenya Budget: $5,000 Edge of Seven Commitment: $5,000
3. Solukhumbu University Girls Hostel, Salleri, Solukhumbu District, Nepal Budget: $58,000 Edge of Seven Commitment: $35,000
TOTAL AMOUNT NEEDED FOR 2014 PROJECTS: $52,000 TOTAL IMPACT 2014 PROJECTS WILL HAVE IN NEXT DECADE: 1,307 STUDENTS, 704 GIRLS
I sincerely appreciate any contribution you can make to this campaign. Being the Starbucks addict that I am, I calculated by just cutting my Starbucks for one month, I could give $100 to this fundraiser! If all of you in just my network can do something similar, we will fund the pilot project in Kenya and directly impact 70 girls! It's been humbling and motivating for me to see how just a small commitment can have this type of measureable impact on lives and futures.
Thanks for any contribution you choose to make!
