In November 2015, my mom was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. PAH is a debilitating disease that is currently without a cure. It robs the ability to breathe and to do daily tasks such as shopping for groceries. The high pressure in the lungs makes it difficult for the heart to work also, so PAH sufferers also develop heart conditions such as congestive heart failure.
Though there is no cure, there are some treatments available that are aimed at slowing the progression of the disease and increasing quality of life. Treatment is trial and error at this point. My mom has tried at least three different medications that she couldn't tolerate. Her current medication is helping, but there is a daily fight with the insurance companies to cover other additional medications that could help.
PAH is considered "rare" and therefore there is not as much research and funding as is needed. Please help me raise money for research and awareness of this terrible disease.
