BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF JOHN PAUL SCHOOL
Please help build a new 160 bed Girls Dormitory at John Paul Secondary School by supporting our Beds, Baths and Showers Campaign.
A few very generous donors have committed $35,000 in Matching Funds to the construction of a new Girls Dormitory. Because of their gift, every dollar donated between now and July 31, 2017 will be matched dollar for dollar.
When John Paul School opened it's doors in 2007, it was to a meager class of 14 students. From that day until now, our ten year anniversary, it has been a story of continual growth. From that nine classroom school, the campus has expanded to include a small Girls Dormitory, a Kitchen, Science Center, Computer Lab (with it's own solar system for power), a newly drilled well, the newly constructed Glen-Dorrie Teacher Housing and new Latrines.
Today, the campus is alive and thriving. Many students come from the local community. Due to the success and reputation of JPSS, it has grown and attracted many students from distant parts of Uganda, who now are Boarding students. In fact, this year the school opened with the highest attendance ever! This created a new set of problems and the Headmaster had to take extraordinary measures to accomodate all those that had enrolled. The current Girls Dormitory went to triple bunks. Two classrooms habe been temporarily converted to dorm rooms for the boys. And, some additional boys ended up renting floor space from small shops in town so they could avoid the long walks to and from school. This is particularly troubling since it is impossible to provide security for these students when they aren't living on campus.
We are desperate for more housing on campus! We need beds, we need baths, we need showers. We need a new large modern dormitory.
Can we count on you to help provide a place for the students to live while they pursue their studies at JPSS?
We ,and the children of Uganda, would be forever grateful for your gift.
