I was asked by Icing Smiles to create a dream Minnie Mouse cake for a little girl almost one year ago. I obsessed over it so much because I wanted to really make her day, and her parents day special. I had no idea the week prior to it being due that my daughter would loose her very own smile, and be diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. Of course I was devastated, worried that the smile that I helped nurture for 15 years would never return. I cried, and cried for days. Sometimes hiding in the bathroom so that my daughter wouldn't think it was so bad. Of course she will heal, but it would take patience and time. Almost two weeks later, there is still no improvement. However, we are staying prayerful and hopeful, and doing our best to keep her in good spirits. I just never realized how much I would miss seeing her smile, it definitely taught me to not take the little things in life for granted. With some time and lots of tender loving care, my daughter is now 100% recovered from her episode with Bells Palsy. I'd love to use this cake photo as a The beginning to a story of giving to continue to enrich the lives of children struggling with various illnesses. What better way to put a smile on a child's face than to give them a special cake on their special day! And every Icing Smiles cake is special because they are always naked with love, thoughtfulness, and sincere and careful planning.
