Bee Give Me the Honey is a skit that counselors perform at YMCA Camp Ernst's opening campfire and is a skit that I have always loved. I have been going to Camp Ernst every summer since 2003 and opening campfire has always been one of my favorite parts. It is a night of songs, skits, and a preview of all the fun that is to come in the week ahead. This night never fails to get every camper excited for his or her week at what I call the greatest place on earth.
Every summer I come back to Camp Ernst because it is such an incredible place that I could not imagine spending my summers anywhere else. Camp Ernst is a place to grow and create a better version of yourself everyday. I am the person I am today because of what I have learned while a camper and a counselor at this wonderful place I call my second home.
As a camper, Camp Ernst was a place to go and be accepted by everyone no matter your differences. I could be myself and not be worried about the judgment of others; it was an escape from reality. At camp I could feel the love from my counselors and fellow campers and know that they all truly cared. It was my favorite week of my summers and was always sad to see it come to an end.
I believe every child deserves to feel the love and acceptance that I felt as a camper, but not everyone is so fortunate. This is why I am hoping to raise $595.00: enough to send one child to camp. Summer camp is something that every child has the right to experience and I am hoping to help make that a reality for one child. I know my experience at Camp Ernst has shaped me into the person I am today and I want to help a child experience all that I was able to. With your help this hope of mine can become a reality!
