THE STORY:

Ujjval Patel wrote -

I am deeply passionate on making nonprofits economically sustainable by bringing over best practices from for-profits so that they can focus on finding solutions to complex problems rather than constantly worrying about funding. I am very excited to see that Northeast Organic Farming Association of Connecticut (CT NOFA), a nonprofit that I recently joined, has extended a similar philosophy to the local farmers that it helps.

CT NOFA is hosting a 10-session course to help organic farmers be economically sustainable as these farmers try to make the world sustainable. The course goes through Time Management, Financial Planning, Marketing Planning, Business Planning, Leadership & Communication, Land Planning, Grazing Planning, and Biomonitoring & Soil Fertility. Please help us keep it going by donating to this cause. Here is what some of the participants have said about this program:

  • "I now have tools that will help me to evaluate & adapt/change/improve what I do & learn every year!"
  • "Learning from other people’s experience it helps to avoid the mistakes, change and improve the way I did before."
  • "It has helped to clarify my goals and reasons for them. It has provided me with a ton of useful information as well as clarified problem areas I had (such as time management issues). It has really boosted my self-confidence, especially because of going through this training with other women in my situation."
  • "It was very worthwhile. My approach to farming is changed in ways I would not have imagined. Excellent content."
  • "Has been huge! Have gone from a pipe dream to actual production. I also feel several of the topics – especially holistic goal, weak link, & time management are life skill even if I’m not farming."

So please donate to the cause so that CT NOFA can hold this course for another year!
