THE STORY:

It’s been my honor and tremendous pleasure to be one of the founders of Beit Juhuro. For the past two and the half years I has volunteered countless hours of my time to teach, promote, and organize classes and events in Beit Juhuro. I have also invested hundreds of dollars of my own money into this cause because I strongly believe in it. The inspiration I get seeing my students grow is hard to describe. It makes me very happy to see young men and women connecting to their roots like never before. They return to the traditions of their ancestors and start keeping Shabbat, wearing tzitzit, and praying to Almighty. What is more heartwarming is the sense of family and belonging that is present at the classes and events.
We came to the point that our growing needs require a space where we can develop further and fulfill the spiritual, social, and cultural yearnings of our people. We need a place we can call our home, place where we can observe Shabbat in its full capacity, offer more classes and programs for adults and children. The future is bright and you have an opportunity to be part of this future. During the past 2 years Beit Juhuro has brought a lot of light into this world. Thanks to Beit Juhuro many people started to learn Torah on regular basis, observe Shabbat, wear tzitzit and put on teffilin. Most of our students feel like one big family and have a strong sense of belonging. At Beit Juhuro everyone is welcome!

Hashem should bless the work of our hands and help us obtain a place we can call our home. Thank you to all the friends and partners of Beit Juhuro! God should shower you with blessings and grant you the wish of your heart, AMEN!

We are a group of Gorsky Jews who started an organization called Beit Juhuro. It is a place where Kavkazi Jews and their friends come to network, learn Torah, Jewish history, study Juhuri language [language of our fathers], pray, and grow together with other like-minded Jews. Currently Beit Juhuro center is benevolently housed by Syrian congregation  Bnei Yaakov. Rabbi Yaakov Farhi opened the doors of his synagogue to welcome Kavkazi Jews and he continues to generously accommodate our growing need to expend.

One of the most distinguishing facts is that our organization is 0 run and funded by our own volunteers, regular people who come to classes and events.

It all started in May of 2014 with a class of 7 people called Gorsky Wednesday. As the time progressed and the needs of our people grew so did we. We now have four weekly classes, holiday celebrations, cultural events, and a popular YouTube channel that is watched all over the world!     Gorsky Jews have come a long way since the fall of the Soviet Union. They have rebuilt communities, held on to their traditions, all in the face of adversity. Even here in NY we have built the only Gorsky/Kavkazy Shul in North America. Now we are sitting at one of the most interesting times in our history and some even call it the "Renaissance of Kavakazy Jews". Our people are changing, becoming more successful, more caring, returning to their roots, becoming more religious, and most importantly asking questions. All we need now is a vessel to nurture these changes. This is where a group of people come together to help facilitate that change
