BENEFITING: 3 LITTLE BIRDS 4 LIFE
However, my story with that cancer wasnt over, yet. At 15 my knee replacement broke. And not in a fun way, either. I was just eating leftover Easter dinner. Over the next 2.5 years I endured over 8 surgeries trying to save it. I had a re-replacement, then the bone above that broke. They tried to put it back together a few times but I just ended up completely infected. My 9th surgery was 4 days after my 18th birthday, and it was my final leg surgery- my amputation.
I was SO happy! Im not even kidding when I say that. I really was! It was over and I felt 1000x better.
Now, Im 27. I was diagnosed in December 2012 with Breast Cancer. I had my mastectomy February 18, 2013. There is a good part to this story- just a few days before the surgery, my boyfriend proposed. I don't know who reads this little stories but if you've had cancer as an adult and you were in a relationship, that's pretty much the last thing you expect. Right now, my story is still really incomplete. I should start radiation soon, Im just waiting on the go ahead to meet with my radiologist. From there, I guess Ill know more.
