The mission of the Society is to establish, promote and further the awareness and treatment of all types of cancer in Belize, and to provide support to those affected and their families.
The Society is largely supported through the valiant efforts of volunteers and the support of public and private sectors, all of whom are sensitive to the impact of cancer on individuals, families and the community.
The activities of the Society are chiefly directed at Education for general public, Education for health professionals, Prevention, Emotional and Technical support for cancer survivors and their families, Hospice support for the terminally ill, Research, and establishing a Cancer Registry. Over the years of its existence, the Society has been able to make considerable progress towards meeting several of its objectives and establishing several noteworthy activities. These include awareness and education, international networking, cervical cancer research and establishing a program of emotional and technical support.
We are a chartered branch of the Belize Cancer Society operating out of the twin towns of Santa Elena/San Ignacio in the beautiful western region of Belize. Our country is yet in the process of establishing a complete cancer center for its patients. Currently our patients can only recieve chemotherapy treatment in Belize and further treatment is provided through referrals in neighboring Mexico and Guatemala for most of our patients. We work very hard to assist our patients - the ones that do not have health inusrance and who are in dire need of financial assitance to receive quality healthcare. Currently our branch has over 70 registerd patients whom we assit directly through their entire treatment regimen. It is not an easy task and requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Joining with Sean on his incredible Mission of Hope will directly benefit our patients and we are so excited to be a part of this wonderful effort.
Please support Belize and the Mission of Hope!!
