BENEFITING: THE BELL CENTER FOR EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAMS
EVENT DATE: Feb 12, 2012
The Mercedes Marathon is February 12, 2012! We are BellRunners, running the marathon on behalf of a precious child, Jacob Jones, who attends The Bell Center (TBC) in Birmingham, AL. TBC provides early intervention for children who are at risk for developmental delay from age birth to three years old; it also provides the families of these children with specific information and encouragement. The money that our team raises will go directly toward helping Jacob during his developmental growth period at TBC.
Now, let’s talk about our sweet boy, Jacob. He was born on August 29, 2010, and was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs disease before his first birthday. Tay-Sachs is a digressive disorder that negatively affects his neurological system, in turn affecting his physical abilities. He loves strawberries and his favorite red and furry friend - Elmo! He is a very sociable and happy boy who is a joy to be around!
Ashley Johnson, a member on our relay team, is a member of The Service Guild (TSG) of Birmingham. TSG is a volunteer organization with the sole mission of providing one-to-one assistance for children in a classroom setting at TBC. Raising awareness and financial resources are vital to continuing this very important mission. Each year TSG’s largest fundraiser is recruiting people from our community and surrounding areas to run in the Mercedes Marathon. Each participant helps in part by raising the very important funds on behalf of a child who has attended TBC - The Bell Center.
We would greatly appreciate your support in the form of a financial contribution in any amount for this great cause! You can safely and securely donate online or you can mail a donation to your friend running on our team. (Please make checks out to The Bell Center.) Thanks so much for your support!
