Homeless Benefits Outreach, Access, and Life Recovery
Organized by: Jeff Woodward
On any given night, 4,000 people face Homelessness in Portland Oregon.
The Social Security Benefit application process is complicated and difficult to navigate, particularly for people who are homeless or who are returning to the community from institutions (jails, prisons or hospitals). For those who have a mental illness, substance use issues, or co-occurring disorders that impair cognition, the application process poses an even greater challenge…
…yet accessing these income and health care benefits is often a critical first step on the road to recovery.
Funds are needed to BRING TOGETHER KEY STATE AND/OR LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS TO COLLABORATE AND DEVELOP IMPROVED ACCESS TO BENEFITS WITH THE GOAL OF ENDING HOMELESSNESS.
We can improve and expedite access to benefits with an average 80% approval rating in 92 days and give people back their lives.
