BENEFITING: TEAM RED WHITE & BLUE
EVENT DATE: Sep 19, 2015
History of The Eagle Ride:
For the past two years, Team RWB Syracuse has been hosting a cycling event called the “Eagle Ride” to help promote cycling in their community and as a fund raising event for Team RWB. The ride had multiple distances – from a family ride of 10 miles to a serious century ride distance (100 miles). In 2014, they added a “virtual” category so anyone around the country could ride as part of the Eagle Ride on or around the same date as the Syracuse ride.
National Eagle Ride Day:
This year, we are asking as many chapters as possible hold an Eagle Ride on the same day, Nationwide as a great way to offer athletic diversity and camaraderie to our members. This national ride will coincide with the Syracuse Eagle Ride day. Not only will this promote unity with the Eagle community, but it will make a statement nationwide as we all head out to ride on the same day. It also gives us the opportunity to bring out our newer riders and help support them as they learn more about cycling.
Proceeds support Team RWB programs focused on supporting veteran wellness through community-based physical and social activities, athletic camps, and leadership development opportunities. Nearly 90% of all Team RWB funds go direct to local programs, nationwide. See:http://teamrwb.org/our-impact/financials
