THE STORY:

BENJAMINS HOPE wrote -

Help us score a Perfect 10 and launch the Health E3: Eat, Exercise, Explore! Program

You can help Benjamin's Hope support people with disabilities in living healthy lives by being a:

Athlete - Click the red "Fundraise for this Campaign" button and get a "Perfect 10" by finding 10 friends willing to give $10 (or more). If you're on the mobile site, click the "The Team" tab and "Join Team".

Coach - Invite friends or family to be "Athletes" with you by fundraising for their own "Perfect 10"

OR...

Cheerleader - Be part of someone else's "Perfect 10" by donating between May 18 and June 22 to help us reach our goal!

Why is this program needed?

The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition reports that 1 in 4 Americans with disabilities are physically inactive during a given week, compared with only 1 in 8 Americans without a disability. The Centers for Disease Control cites lack of access to physical activity options as one of the main barriers to a healthy lifestyle for persons with disabilities.

What will this program provide?

Benjamin's Hope wants to improve the lives of people with disabilities in West Michigan through the new Health E3: Eat, Exercise, Explore! program. Through this program, adults and children with disabilities and their families will have access to:

  • adaptive exercise equipment
  • nature trails
  • bikes
  • snow shoes and other outdoor recreation equipment
  • gardening classes
  • barrier-free garden plots
  • nutrition and healthy cooking workshops

What is Benjamin's Hope?

Benjamin’s Hope supports people with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to develop to their fullest potential, and provides services that contribute to the health and well being of families impacted by autism and I/DD.  A “live, work, play and worship” model, Benjamin’s Hope operates 5 adult foster care homes on 40 acres of farmland, a day program focused on whole-person development, and an inclusive weekly worship service.  As a leader in autism-specific residential services in the state of Michigan, Benjamin’s Hope is a thriving example of public/private partnership and debt-free development.

Benjamin's Hope is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.
