BENEFITING: LOS ANGELES YOUTH NETWORK LA YOUTH NETWORK
Imagine running out of options and turning to the street. Imagine being moved from placement to placement with no say in where you’re going next. Imagine not knowing what you’ll eat for dinner, or where you’ll sleep. Now, imagine experiencing all this at only 15 years old.
While most of you reading this – myself included – could not even fathom such a situation; my recent trip to the Los Angeles Youth Network emergency shelter has really put things into perspective. This moving experience has opened my eyes to the hardships children face, not too far from the sheltered comfort of my own home. The Los Angeles Youth Network provides support to abused, neglected and homeless adolescents, and I was truly moved by the unconditional support so many people have given to helping this organization. They do this by providing street outreach, food, emergency shelter, a transitional living program, and educational enrichment programs in a safe and nurturing environment.
So this is where you come in. The LAYN has outgrown its original, dormitory style, emergency shelter facility, and they are moving! In the fall of 2014, they will be relocating to a beautiful Craftsman-style home in a neighborhood setting, and we need your help! This new home will enable LAYN to provide 12-17 year-old foster youth, many who have been victims of abuse and neglect, with more high quality programs and services in a safe and nurturing environment that many of them have never known.
Your tax deductible gift will be greatly appreciated and truly make a difference in the life of child.
