Ben Roumimper wrote -As you may know, I am a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity at UC Davis. One of our founding principles that resonates with me is the importance of philanthropy and community service, and through my experience in Sigma Nu I have been given many opportunities to help the community as well as fundraise for charity. The primary cause that we work to benefit is called The Pathway Home. The Pathway Home is an organization based in California that focuses on providing resources and support for the American soldiers and their families who suffer from PTSD, TBI and other post-combat mental health issues. Recent statistics show that approximately 22 veterans commit suicide each day. In an effort to prevent depression and suicide and exemplify my appreciation and gratitude to those who have served our country – I have pledged to raise $750 for The Pathway Home and participate in our annual Trekking for the Troops challenge. Trekking for the Troops is an eleven-day, 110-mile hike to the top of Mount Whitney designed to raise awareness and show solidarity for the physical and mental duress that soldiers endure as well as symbolize the lengthy, arduous journey of returning home. On September 6th, I will depart for Sequoia National Forest to begin my journey with 15 friends in Sigma Nu. PLEASE HELP ME REACH MY GOAL!
