BENEFITING: MICHAEL J FOX FOUNDATION FOR PARKINSONS RESEARCH
EVENT DATE: Oct 06, 2013
Thank you for visiting my half-marathon fundraising page. I have been training for over three months and will be completing my first half marathon on October 6th, 2013.
At the beginning of the year, I decided along with my girlfriend, Caroline, that our fitness goal for the year would be to train and complete a half marathon. More recently, I have expanded that goal to incorporate raising money for Parkinson's research.
In 2011, my grandmother, Ruth, passed away after a long battle with very advanced Parkinson's. I have wonderful memories of spending time with Grandma- she always loved doing puzzles together, and taking me on the occasional visit to FAO Schwarz. I loved playing her grand piano, whether I was playing real songs or just improvising... I have a clear image of the glowing smile it put on her face. More recently, my great uncle- or as I call him, Uncle Uncle Mitchell, has also been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
In honor of my awesome great uncle and in loving memory of my grandmother, I would like dedicate my half marathon to Parkinson's research. I have set a goal to raise $1,000. One hundred percent of the donations will be donated to the Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson's Research.
