BENEFITING: GATEWAY TO LEARNING
Help adults with special needs learn, grow and explore our beautiful city of Chicago! Make a donation toward a new bus or van for our school, and we'll use it to bring you free cookies from our new cafe.* Who doesn't like free cookies?! (See bottom of page for donor levels and incentive details)
Gateway to Learning, a special education and training center founded in 1974, provides life-changing services to more than 70 adults with intellectual disabilities in the Chicagoland area. Our mission is to help these individuals develop skills to enrich their lives and contribute to their community. We offer academic and pre-vocational programs to allow clients to reach their full potential, including a new 24-month workforce training program and retail bakery opening this spring called Dorothy's Can Do Cafe. We're asking you to help us reach new heights and new destinations this year!
By contributing to our fundraiser you'll help open new doors for Gateway to Learning's clients, whose programs are currently confined to our school building and locations within walking distance of GTL. With your contribution, we'll purchase a brand new para-transit bus or van capable of transporting our individuals of all ability levels to new and exciting destinations. They'll visit nearby neighborhoods and businesses, take fun and educational field trips, and soak in all this great city has to offer. We'll introduce our clients to members of their community and spread awareness of our cause to Lincoln Square and beyond. And with the support of donors like you, we'll use our new vehicle to enrich the community: we'll bring volunteer clients to assist local businesses with projects, and deliver baked goods from Dorothy's Can Do Cafe to Chicago food pantries for those in need.
A contribution to Gateway to Learning's fundraiser is a contribution to Chicagoland, to the special needs community, and to the more than 70 amazing individuals in our program. Help us go the distance!
*Cookie van delivery promise valid for local donors ($200 or more) within about 20 miles of the Lincoln Square neighborhood, and will be fulfilled within 3 months of van purchase. If you prefer, we can issue you a voucher for free cookies at the cafe instead. Not from around here? Donate $500 or more and we'll ship you LOTS of fresh baked goodies anywhere in the U.S.A. You won't get to see the new van up close, but you'll have our undying gratitude...and isn't that more valuable in the end?
