EVENT DATE: Dec 10, 2016
We've already been gifted with many things that make a life truly rich--in particular, the ability to put nutritious food on the table, and amazing educations (in and outside the classroom) that have fed our minds and spirits. We would love to be able to gift these things to others by inviting you to make a contribution, in lieu of a wedding gift to us, to some of our favorite non-profits! Here are three organizations that are doing the important work of nourishing the whole self. (Please note that you can select which one or ones to donate to--gifts will go only to the designated recipient organization.)
Breakthrough Twin Cities (formerly Breakthrough Saint Paul). A highly effective college preparatory program for high-potential, under-resourced middle school students. The summer program trains and mentors college-aged potential educators to develop curricula and teach transferable academic skills to 6-8th graders. Berit taught with Breakthrough for two summers in college and it was one of the most formative experiences of her life.
826CHI. A non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Jamie volunteered there after college and loved it.
World Vision. A Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. Does so responsibly by empowering sustainable, local leadership and serving people of any faith or none.
