I am spending my summer working at Missionvale Care Center in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Located in the Missionvale Township, Missionvale Care Center provides holistic care for a community that is plagued by poverty, addiction, unemployment, and illness. The center offers a safe, loving environment for members of the community to thrive physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. Please go to www.missionvale.org.za for more information on all that they do.
During my time here I am helping out in the Father Christmas program, where Auntie Rachel packages presents for 6,000-7,000 children living in the surrounding township. She begins wrapping in January for the following December in order to have the presents ready in time.
Currently, the project is in desperate need of presents for teenagers, and Auntie Rachel is seriously concerned they will be unable to provide them gifts. Furthermore, the workshop is reusing old wrapping paper because they can't afford to purchase new rolls. A small donation from you will allow me to purchase gifts for the teens, and new wrapping paper. Since I am here until August, I am going to raise the funds during July and then buy the gifts and wrapping paper myself, so you can rest easy that 100% of the money will go DIRECTLY to providing gifts to the kids here! Please feel free to ask me if you have any further questions.
