BENEFITING: Best Buddies International, Inc.
ORGANIZER: Best Buddies
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
I’m writing to let everybody know that I have joined the Best Buddies team for the 2017 Boston Marathon. For those who are not familiar with Best Buddies – it is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating one-to-one friendships, providing opportunities for integrated employment, and facilitating leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). To the left are pictures of me and my buddy, Joe, whom I have been lucky enough to know since 2013. It is an honor to have Joe as my friend, and I have learned so much over the past 3+ years from him and his family.
As part of the team, my goal is to raise $7,500 before race day (April 17, 2017). I know that I can’t get all of that through this page, but I am hoping to make at least a little dent in the total amount! Any amount (even a couple bucks) truly helps. 100% of the funds go directly to Best Buddies, which has a UMass Medical School chapter (founded by my good friend and handsome guy Justin Pespisa), and is used to support Best Buddies through its Jobs Program, Leadership Development initiatives (BB Ambassadors & BB Promoters), and social events where one-to-one friendships flourish. These programs and events connect people with IDD with their communities in meaningful ways, and help to forge lifelong friendships that enrich the lives of so many. Best Buddies is an awesome organization, and I’m honored to run and raise funds on its behalf!
Thank you guys so much for reading this. Let me know if you have any questions at all, and thank you for your support! I could not appreciate it more.
