BENEFITING: Best Day Foundation
Celebrate the holidays by helping Best Day raise $15K by Dec 31st so that we can serve more children in 2013! It costs us approx $200 to serve each child - so any help is appreciated - and tax-deductible!
What's the Surfboard Challenge?
The first person who donates or raises $5K wins a free Russell Hoyte surfboard - thanks to Hoyte Designs, Homegrown Surfshop, and Austin Williams! Hoyte used to shape for Channel Island & made boards for Kelly Slater (11-time world surfing champ) and Dane Reynolds. All donations are tax-deductible. Remember - you can use employer matching, some of which double or even triple your donation - so winning that board may be a cinch for you! And those who raise $500 or more win a free Best Day hoodie!
Some facts from Giving USA 2012 that might help you feel comfortable reaching out to your friends and family:
- 73% of 2011 charitable giving, $217 billion (the largest segment), came from individuals. (Your friends and family are individuals - and we're just asking for $15K or less than 0.000007% of that).
- 65% of all households give to charity. (Your friends and family live in households - meaning that the majority of them give to charity!)
- The top national volunteer activities are fundraising (26.6%), food collection/distribution (23.5%), general labor / transportation (20.5%), and tutoring/teaching (19.0%). (We primarily ask you to come to the beach or snow! Now we're asking you to just send 3 emails & make a few Facebook posts to raise money - though you can do more!)
- Over 33% of all online charitable giving is done in December -- 22% of that on the 30th and 31st. (Your family and friends won't mind your last minute emails, some may actually thank you.)
