Better for Bella
Organized by: Linda Clouse
I am disabled and on oxygen. Two and a half years ago, I received a rescued dog that had been used as a drug mule from Mexico into Arizona. My youngest brother and his wife live in Phoenix and were helping homeless people there when one man asked them to help with a dog. They already have two of their own, but took her home and brought her to their vet and had her treated. Her pads on her paws were burnt. I imagine from walking out of the desert. Drug mules are left in the desert to die, but she had a will to live. She was underweight also. I wanted a companion dog. My brother nursed her for a month and then drove her all the way to Massachusetts to deliver her to me. She arrived just in time to save me as two months later, I lost my mother. I had lost Dad ten years earlier. I was devastated, but Bella pulled me through. Then last September the unthinkable happened, my life partner of twelve years was murdered. Bella gave me my only reason to wake up each day. Now something has happened to her and she is very sick. I cannot afford the high vet bills to get her the help she needs. My heart is broken as I have had to lately put water in her mouth by hand to get her to drink. If I lose her too, I don't think I could handle it. Please help us get the care she needs.
